This is a wonderful blue and white 100% wool Indian beaded jacket coat. It was made and beaded by a member of a Canadian First Nations tribe, most likely Northern Indian. I believe that this Native Indian beaded jacket dates to the 1960s. It came with a couple of other items of Labrador origin, so I think that it was made by Native Indians from North East Canada. The beadwork is on the white wool at the upper bodice and back as well as on the pockets. The repeating floral motif is in keeping with Northern First Nation beadwork. This Northern Indian beaded jacket is made in a classic bomber style with wool fringe across the chest and back. It does up the front with a Lightning metal zipper - Lighting was a Canadian zipper company, no longer in business. There is a pocket at either front side and the sleeve cuffs are made of white wool - the cuffs have a button closure. It has a blue rayon lining. This Indian beaded jacket should fit a size medium to maybe large, but please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 18 1/2” across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam
Sleeves: 24 1/2” from shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 19”
Bust: 46” around
Waist: 43” around
Overall length: 27”, measured flat
Condition: This Indian beaded jacket is in very clean condition with no wear, tear or staining. This looks to have seen little, or no, use and has been well kept and stored over the years.
This is a wonderful Indian beaded jacket - pure wool, great for winter weather!
